Marlowe Jensen is a seventeen year old girl with congenital heart condition is a recipient to a heart transplant by a sixteen year old boy. Since she had the transplant she’s been trying to get a hold of the family but the family doesn’t want contact and ask her not to send anymore letters. She wants to know who the boy was and this is her story of her determination to find out who her heart belong to and who he was as a person. She also trying to figure who she is now.

I won an arc of this from a giveaway on Instagram. I read this book in about a week or so, I took my time reading it. Tin Heart was published in Australia first, which is where the author is from and where the book takes place. I gave this a four out of five stars.

I liked that Marlowe mentions both Will Smith and the Tardis from Doctor Who and other movies and books. I however didn’t like that she told two characters fake names and didn’t tell them who she really was. One of the characters figures out her name but the one it affects more doesn’t. Which probably made that character feel used and betrayed.

When Marlowe goes back to school she makes a friend Zan and we find out she’s gay and there’s also another character that’s at least interested in girls and her name is Kari. The book doesn’t go into detail about that plot point.

I didn’t like that Marlowe thinks that her brother makes himself a target for how he dresses and because the he is. I don’t like how she treats or talks to her brother. She puts everything before her brother and is mean to him. I didn’t like how she treated her mom either when her mom was just trying to protect her and do what she thinks is right for Marlowe. I hope she truly learns her lesson and doesn’t treat her brother or mother like that no longer.

I liked it when Marlowe called Leo butcher boy. She flirted with in ways that were settle but could tell that she was flirting with him. She always acted like she didn’t like him till the last 100 pages or so.
